I grew up with Lady Lynn Booth in Louisville, Ky. and she was amazingly beautiful and intelligent even then. Grats Lady on a beautiful wedding and blessings on your new life together!!!

Once again, Lat has titillated us with his delicious vocabulary-- albeit, hardly aptly in this case: Although Mary Ellen Bork would not likely quarrel with an analogy in any aspect to the Iron Lady, the term Margaret Thacher "doppelganger" (="virtual double" fyi to the cretins evidently unaware of the colorful term's non-pejorative meaning) is hardly 'fair' to the very lovely Mary Ellen, wife of the esteemed Judge--and unintended style-celebrant on these pages... Yes, Judge Bork is wearing his traditional gold pocket watch and he did dress appropriately (dark suit) for an afternoon wedding the invitation to which made no mention of black-tie and, in fact, was altogether silent as to dress (to correct the record)... (gst, pick a fight on somebody else's blog).

As a member of the brides family, and an invited guest to all events, I can assure everyone the 'Napa Valley Casual' directive is a myth. There never was any such request and/or direction on any invitation. For the record, that is our father (Wayne N. Perkey) walking her down the aisle. It was indeed a beautiful wedding, and a good time was had by all.

Well actually....if you had both the invitation (as I do in my hand) and the ability to read, you would see that it does not, in fact, say Napa Casual. This is a trivial issue, but if people feel the need to make condescending remarks about a wedding they have no connection to, they should at least have correct information!

3:47 PM: I don't think the write-up was "condescending" toward the wedding. It was actually adoring and celebratory. The condescension was directed at guests who couldn't figure out how to implement the (alleged) Napa casualness.

If referring to the non-existant request as idiotic is not condescending, I don't know what is. The fact is, there was no such request. The write up was well done, with the exception of this incorrect statement, and a few missing details.

For a blog read by mostly attorneys, you all don't bother to check your facts much before you post. I said the initial write up made a mistake, because it did. Had you bothered to read the write up first, instead of assuming I am an idiot, you might have avoided making yourself look foolish.
