Agreed on the "this is lame" comment. The guy's explanation is basically "we're a meritocracy, but everyone at our firm is awesome."
By that standard, WLRK might be WLRKABBBBCCCCCCCDDEEFGGGGGHHHKKKKKKLLLMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNOOPPRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSVVWWW.
After all, I'm sure they think that they're a meritocracy and that their partners are all awesome.

I agree with 9:59 AM. But that said, Wachtell Lipton DOES have an insanely large letterhead (which includes not just all of the partners' names, but also those of many associates).
