Shanetta Cutlar's Defender: We're Not Sayin', We're Just Sayin'
Late last month, one "Thailour Preston" posted an awesome defense of Shanetta Cutlar, the high-powered chief of the Justice Department's Special Litigation Section. It read, in pertinent part, as follows:
I am sick and tired of all of you jelly-backed spineless weasels who write in with your "anonymous" monikers. Even you cowards who used to work for Shanetta should be man or woman enough to step up to the plate and identify yourselves instead of hiding behind the anonymous tags. How gutless! If you carefully check the records, you will find that real substantive civil rights work is going forth in the Special Litigation Section. I would say that this is quite an accomplishment considering the current administration and its horrible record on civil rights issues.
No one talks about all the in-house sniping and back-stabbing that went on when she took the job. Plenty of mud-slinging and back-biting by would-be saboteurs galore. The hope was that she would go away and guess what - she's still standing....
[D]on't tell me that some of the attacks were not racially motivated. Check yourselves on that. Anyway, you idiots need to get a life and leave this woman alone.
As noted, this comment was signed by "Thailour Preston."
Now we don't seek to unmask our commenters. We respect their anonymity; it allows them to speak freely, which is great. We're big believers in the First Amendment around here.
But anonymity does allow people to play pranks or assume personas. For example, colorful commenter "Leona" -- who posed as a super-religious, anti-gay Christian woman -- owned up to being a joke (in real life, a gay guy living in Cambridge, MA). Similarly, some of you have wondered whether "Loyola 2L" is a fictional identity.
So you never know for certain who's posting what around here. But one of you did email us to point out an interesting coincidence:
Here is a bio (PDF) for Bishop Brian Garner. Someone has already noted the close relationship between Brian Garner and SYC, one of his congregants.Look at the name of Brian's wife: Robin Thailour Preston. Sound familiar?
If commenter Thailour Preston is in fact Robin Thailour Preston, the wife of Shanetta Cutlar's minister, then she may be the only SYC defender who has identified herself by her real name. Maybe the only person in the comments besides you and Ty who has used a real name?
We have not (and don't intend to) undertake further investigation into the identity of "TP." So we don't know for certain whether commenter "Thailour Preston" is in fact Robin Thailour Preston, good friend and fellow church member of Shanetta Y. Cutlar.
We just thought this was an interesting coincidence, which we wanted to share. That's all.

Ah that's right! you have the power to tell us if L2L is real or not! (Or at least if he is posting from a Loyola IP address or not.)
Damn blogalistic integrity.

Awesome! What's done in the dark, will come to the light! Who's spineless and gutless NOW?
Sounds like Brian has lost the trust and credibility of his SPL colleagues.

Brian is a good guy . . . I'm sure his wife & SYC are tight from going to church together and the wife is sticking up for her friend. Because, as a friend, she doesn't get exposed to the toxic abuse SYC spews at the work place. SYC is a jekell & hyde for sure.

Well...most people that defend SYC is normally promised something.. I wonder what Brian has been promised because it's obvious from the tone of the email that he spoke and used his wife's name. Let's think about this.. maybe a promotion or more money.. only time will tell.

How about the responder "Life", does anyone else think that this is JYJ... the person that's probably been promised the vacant deputy position. We all know that she is SYC's girl. She is a good attorney but receives all the previledges that's not offered to the rest the attorneys such as working from home. Anyone noticed that besides me.

It's definitely Brian who chose to identify himself as his wife instead of being up front and honest. But why would he, when we all know that he complains about SYC all the time. He whines to Tammie all the time. Tammie I wouldn't trust him if I were you.

are 8:46, 8:52 and 8:56 the same person? Why not just leave 1 comment, if so?
And why is it "definitely Brian" who used the Thailour Preston name?
And who would have the nerve to complain about people hiding behind monikers while doing the same thing? This question is rhetorical.

I have a side bar -- then we can get back to Brian. Does anyone else in SPL realize that when we have our monthly staff meetings that only two managers out of seven sit at the conference room table with SYC? Or why awards ceremony was December and no one has recieved the actually award. Or why when awards are given SYC never announces the people that recieved awards to the stafff (it's always a secret). Sometime you don't even know until someone else tells you. Just wondering since some people think SYC is so smart. These are example of having poor management skills.

Because, if SYC is not getting the credit, or one of her favorites, she'd rather not acknowledge it. Diva rule number 11 - never give praise or credit, wouldn't want to give the serfs some self confidence, they may get too much and rebel!

JYJ is the ONLY person during SYC's reign to transfer in to SPL during open season. Everyone else got out while the getting was good. Interesting how no one transferred in this year. How many poor souls are left in SPL -- how many deputies do they need, seems half the staff is a deputy at this point. And, if JYJ gets promoted over Bo Tayloe, SYC needs to be fired for rocks being in her head.

Here's some circumstantial evidence that Brian Garner used his wife's name as a pseudonym: the phrase "useless as tits on a bull." Sounds like something an ex-Marine would say, but perhaps not his wife.

Anonymous: Your arguments sound silly and ridiculous. You have just given me substantive reason to exit this website permanently. Also, your obsession with Brian Garner speaks to your identity.

Figures.

Shouldn't the expression be "as useless as tits on a mule"? A bull, although a male, is capable of having offspring that require nursing and therefore a teet would not be useless. On the other hand, a mule is the sterile offspring of a donkey and a horse and is incapable of reproducing -- which means that tits on the mule are useless since there is no offspring to nurse.
