ATL March Madness: A New Final Four

Okay, we changed our mind. As some of you suggested, having disqualified NYU and the University of Michigan, we will stage a semifinal between the two schools they previously defeated: UT Austin and Columbia.

So here are the new "final four" match-ups (the new Texas-Columbia contest, and the existing UVA-Georgetown one):

We're all in favor of school spirit. We encourage you to email the poll to others and encourage them to vote.

But please do not employ scripts, clickbots, or other non-human voting tools. Thank you.

This is ridiculous. Michigan and NYU should be in the final for their actions. This is the law - an adversarial field. Such actions were not previously banned.

NYU cheated the whole time - they were just more restrained about it.

To Columbia's credit - they have to get some points for bringing Lat to give a speech. I would be willing to bet that Lat will draw a larger crowd than Alito will at the moot court finals.

This entire competition was bogus from the start. It should be abandonded, not restarted! Whoever clickbotted the results of that one poll, please clickbot the remainder to bring this sad sad chapter to a close.

And, I'll put this in their column, I can't find on this site where clickbots weren't allowed. Any claim that it disrupts the validity of the results should just stop and think about how valid the results of an online 'coolness' survey would have been anyways.

this is the stupidest of the threads that appear regularly on this blog

Yeah, this is retarded! The idea of a "cool" lawschool is inherently ridiculous, but NYU and Michigan should be the winners for taking the ridiculousness to new and amusing levels.

It's remarkable how much energy people will put into posting on a blog to carp about how stupid the post is.

If you don't like it, ignore it. Jeez.

Stanford should be allowed back in - against Columbia -- so that it can rightfully rise against the "Southern Gentleman" school of UVA.

to be fair, shouldn't Boalt be included? That was quite a close match...

How is it even possible that UT is winning this poll? Do their Bibles come internet-ready? Do their pickups have wireless? I'm at a loss.

The one thing we do know is if they win, it certainly wasn't the product of internet spammery. The closest they've come to building any sort of "bot" at UT was the time they realized old soup cans make good spit cups.

Michigan and NYU students you know what to do. To prove how ATL and this poll is a bunch of BS I'm requesting that Michigan, NYU, and whoever else wants to join to use clickbot and vote for the underdogs.

I wholeheartedly agree with 5:59 and 5:56. Another part of the problem with achieving any "real" result with this stupid poll -- which despite ATL's lame attempt at shaming NYU and Michigan was indeed, until now, officially rule-free -- is that you can't tell who is cheating for which school.

Cheaters, use that to your advantage, and get the rest of these schools disqualified so that this whole lame contest can rest in peace. At this point, that would be the only satisfying result.

Nice ex-post facto rule.

Yeah, I'm sure it took a real genius to figure out not to use scripts or clickbots ex ante.

Columbia is the antithesis of cool

(and no, I don't go to UT... this comment would have been the same regardless of which school was competing against them.. UT also sucks.. but not as much).

If UT is cool, consider me Miles Davis.

Dear ATL,

I thought I knew you. You've changed.

Sincerely,

Your Mom.

P.S. Dad is worried about you too.

If you don't like it, don't vote for it or look at it.

Is that so difficult, you elitist wankers?

UT is winning b/c Columbia is a bunch of pompous jerks. I know nothing about UT, but I know I generally do not like people from Columbia.

You guys are all TTT clowns. What, there're no classes at Cooley this week or something?

Columbia rocks everyone's ass. And no, I don't go to Columbia. In fact, I go to NYU.

Actually, from my impression, everyone I have met from Columbia has been very cool.

haha 3:33 is definitely NOT from NYU

avatar

5:03 what makes you think that? 3:33 sounds exactly like the NYU type - craving Columbia, grumpy for not getting in.

This may sound cloying, but I graduated CLS a few years back and I have to say, one of my favorite things about that place was the diversity of the population.

Maybe it's going to school in NYC that makes it such a great legal environment, but it really opened my eyes to differing perspectives and people of all colors and creeds.

[maybe UT is just as diverse, but that really is the number one thing that stands out in my mind as the most positive when I look back at CLS-- the vibrant population of different kinds of people all interacting]

Students at Columbia are cool. That's not the problem. The school just sucks.

Good hackers of NYU and Michigan, I call upon you once again (since you're apparently the only ones smart enough to make this happen) to engage in nullification of this stupid poll! Please cheat for everyone and get everyone disqualified. No school should "win" a poll that grows more meaningless and arbitrary by the day.
