Congratulations to America's Coolest Law School: UVA!

Our March Madness contest, an NCAA-esque tournament for the title of America's coolest law school, is now over. Congratulations to the very deserving winner:

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA SCHOOL OF LAW!!!

In the final round, UVA went up against Columbia. It wasn't even close:

After the jump, a few pieces of evidence in support of UVA's coolness. Nice work, guys!

1. They make cool videos for their law student show.

In addition to these two videos from the UVA Libel Show, here's another one (via TJ's Double Play):

2. They host the Law School Softball Tournament.

In this fabulous sporting extravaganza, more than 40 schools and 110 teams battle it out for law school supremacy. For more details -- including appearances by Penn, Rutgers, NYU and South Carolina law schools -- see here and here.

3. They know how to party.

At UVA, they have an institution called Feb Club: a series of 29 themed parties in a row. See the official Feb Club website for more details, as well as UVA's official blog of record, TJ's Double Play (here, here, and here).

Once again, congratulations to all UVA students and alumni on their school's victory!

Based on the Feb Club pics, UVA students are a good-looking group.

It was a pity vote. Columbia got Cho Seun-Hui-ed.

UVA ≠ VA Tech. In fact they are "rivals" of sorts.

This vote has been up for over a week and it has never even been close.

UVA actually copied Feb Club from Washington and Lee Law School. Washington and Lee is in a crappy little town in the middle of nowhere and it's rumored that the administration started spending $110,000 a year on Feb Club in the hopes that keeping the students drunk for an entire month would improve the chances of students actually getting laid, and help them forget how miserable they are.

Very invalid. Michigan and NYU are cooler for knowing how to clickbot.

hey anon 4:19,

That's why your school didn't win.

A coolest law school vote without Michigan is a farce.

We got Sanjaya'd (wrongfully booted) by this site, and now American knows it.

Roll your eyes at that, David "Simon" Lat.

It's funny how the article forgot to mention the results of the UVA Law sex survey...

1. Libel Show
2. Softball Tourney
3. Feb Club

4. Getting laidness?

UVA's always had the best parties, the hottest girls, and the most balls-out drinking. This has been common knowledge for a long time now...

...but the formality of actually voting is cute.

CFF, did you just verb "Sanjaya" while claiming coolness? You're joking, right?

NYU would have beaten UVA. BTW, your video sucks. Lat, please stop posting really bad law revue videos. This isn't quite as bad as the bagels and lox video by CLS, but it is up there. Bring back the white rappers.

i thought the sweet addie video was great until i read 12:22's comment informing me that it sucks. when i told my office mate that apparently the video sucks, she said that the commenter might be biased. so i was like, why? and she said, well, his name is NYU 3L. and i said, why should that come into it? doesn't everyone comment impartially, regardless of where they went to school? and she said, well, that's the hope, but sometimes school loyalties get in the way. and so i said, huh, and then I ate this giant turkey and cheddar sandwich. i'm tentatively going to say it was awesome, unless 12:22 thinks otherwise.

McKenna Long & Aldridge, a District of Columbia law firm, is now testing lawyers to see whether they "fit in" with what the firms considers to be its personality -- the image it would like to project.

Go here to see the test they're are using: http://www.talentquest.com/TalentQuest/about.html

I wonder whether it ever occured to the powers that be at McKenna that this is the job of their recruiting committee. Apparently, McKenna gave this test to this years batch of summer associates before they left. They, of course, assured these summers that this test would have no bearing on job offers. Hmmm...
