Don Imus Hires "Ferocious Litigator"

Don Imus has hired a prominent litigator, prompting speculation that the dismissed DJ may be plotting legal action against his former employers (CBS and MSNBC).
The lawyer is Davis & Gilbert partner Martin Garbus, named by Time Magazine as “legendary, one of the best trial lawyers in the country.” According to BusinessWeek:
A brief sentence on Garbus' personal blog, late Friday afternoon, noted that Garbus "represents Don Imus in a dispute with CBS"—a sentence that was later removed from the blog.Even cooler than the thought of Nancy Reagan and Public Enemy eyeing each other from opposite sides of the Davis & Gilbert lobby: Garbus' bio notes that he "won what is arguably the most important due process case of the 20th century, Goldberg v. Kelly (397 U.S. 254)."A ferocious litigator who has received numerous media citations as one of America's leading trial lawyers, Garbus has represented clients as diverse as the comic Lenny Bruce, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Nancy Reagan, and pioneering rap group Public Enemy.
He also blogs at The Huffington Post.
Sounds like Imus is in good hands.

For most YLS grads, "Goldberg v. Kelly" = "1L civil procedure"
Owen Fiss owes this man a lot.
Clearly Matthews v. Eldridge is a more important due process case than Goldberg.
can he play guitar? most rock stars can.
What would be the basis of a suit by Imus? Wrongful termination?
I posit that Imus will be suing the Cryptkeeper for trademark/trade dress infringement.
Imus has no case. CBS can fire his ass for whatever reason they please, as long it wasn't based on race/disability/sexual preference, etc.
Jonb,
CBS can only fire him for any-or-no-reason if he was employed at-will. He had an recently signed $10MM employment contract with CBS that would provide the basis for a suit.
Jnob,
You are a moron. Were you not implying in previous posts that you went to a tier one school and were therefore somhow superior to everyone else who did not? Did you not take an employment law class (or contracts for that matter), or did you just not understand it. I'm assuming the latter since you've done a great job of parroting the at-will employment doctrine but you just can't quite figure out how to apply it. Keep telling yourself (and anyone who will listen -- i.e., your mom, grandma, secretary etc.) that your degree from a tier one school makes you superior, it's all you've got. Idiot . . .
Wow, it's good to see the off-topic tier discussion can continue, even without Lat at the helm. I never know how to go with that one, since I went to Tulane. Should I be tierist, since Tulane is tier one this year? Or should I be insecure, since every so often it drops out of the Top 50? I just don't know how to go on without knowing!!!!
TTTulane
Jonb -- you are a complete and utter d-bag.
No David Boies? Imus would always threatened his foes by invoking the Great David's name. Has Boies lost it? Not tough enough? I'd say his representation of CBS may have been a conflict, but Boies could surely find a way out of any conflict...
Lee Albert, the man who actually argued the winning side in Goldberg v. Kelly, would probably be a little surprised to learn that Martin Garbus "won" it.
