Everyone’s A Winner - Again!
Congratulations to Nixon Peabody. All of the “winners” at that venerable law firm are winners once again. VH1’s Best Week Ever just named the firm’s non-theme-song song its Favorite Jam of Summer ‘07!
We kid you not. See here:
“Everyone’s a Winner at Nixon Peabody” is officially our Favorite Jam of Summer 07! The type of tune that makes you want to get out the Bartles & James, brush n’ braid your long gray hair, tear off your stirrup pants and miniature horse cardigan, and make out with your 77-year-old husband on a nude beach somewhere in Pueto Vallarta.
You can read the full post here. Once again, congrats to NP!

First!
Does this mean ATL is now MSM?
Just when you think this can't get any better, it does. Glorious.
Great job in handling this by NP. Instead of blowing it off, they increased it's exposure, and are now the absolute laughingstock of the legal community. Please, threaten to sue VH1!!!
I meant "its." I am now the laughingstock of this talkback. Damn you, karma!!!
There needs to be a blog version of the Pulitzer prize . . . this story is award winning.
Lat to Pulitzer.

i still regret ever listening to that song. it has been stuck in my head for days.
Let's predict how many places NP will fall in the Vault rankings next year because of this. I say 74 -> 80.
I hope not!
Hahaha, sure am glad I didn't accept my callback at that TTT.
I'd love to hear from the group that put this number together. It would be GREAT to hear about the process of writing the song. Who at NP was involved... were hours spent in a conference room wrting the lyrics... really, there is so much that we just don't know.
Seriously, do you think this will have an effect on NP's recruiting this year? I wouldn't be surprised...
Awesome.
Maybe now NP will rethink trotting the song out as its "official" theme song?
I still think the whole affair was a stroke of marketing genius, however unwitting. I cannot get the song out of my head either…..
They know what they are doing at VH1.
I think it'll be murder on their recruiting. Most law students make job decisions with very little information beyond the Vault rankings. Now they have one additional piece of information on NP, and it's ridiculously negative. Result: NP instantly drops to the bottom of its Vault peer group in terms of desirability.
Lat,
I've got a friend who works at Viacom. I just sent him an email -- you must appear on this episode of "Best Week Ever" to intro and comment on the Favorite Jam of Summer '07!
If I was in charge of recruiting at Nixon Peabody I would be burning copies of the song with a copy of the VH1 award embossed on the jewel box and handing them out at every interview. Own it baby….its gotten too big to hide anyway.
What better way to prove that NP is a fun place to work……
These guys are a little too glib and are off in their descriptions - the song sounds NOTHING like Michael MacDonald. I'd say its more like DeBarge, Cameo or The Jets

Mark Lyon (1:28) -- Why the F did you post a link to your resume? You are a d-bag . . .
this should be the song(s) of the summer:

Mark Lyon has a 2.84 law school GPA. Ha ha!
I just managed to be home (instead of class, the usual reading spot) when I was reading ATL so I played this song. It made my dogs go ape****. They literally wouldn't stop barking till it was over.
2.84 = Deans List WTF
WTF? Really? HEAD law clerk?

VH-1 should do a "Where Are They Now" show on this one-hit-wonder. VH-1's website says this about the show: "You knew their names, you loved their songs, you watched their videos, but ... Where Are They Now? Where Are They Now? uses interviews, film clips, and exclusive home movies to revisit artists' past...
http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/where_are_they_now/series.jhtml
They could interview all of the people who performed (I won't call them "singers" because I just can't bring myself to acknowledge that as "singing"), the associates who were around at the time of its "release", and the story of its resurgence in popularity. They could even interview Lat as the force behind the comeback, and then at the end, a have a reunion of the performers for a live show...
3.3 median and 150 LSAT for Mississippi College School of Law....yikes
