I think Imus will settle, but could be interesting if he decides to fight it. If 'ho' is--as many rappers claim in defending its use--just another term for woman, then how was Imus defaming the women by calling them 'hos'?

I guess they'll call 50 cent as an expert witness?

I hope he fights it. It's a completely ridiculous lawsuit.

Any other thoughts on the outcome of the Imus/Rutgers Player suit. It seems like she hasn't got a pot to piss in, but I don't know if there's some wrinkle to the law in NY.

i think she's going to lose, b/c no one would reasonably think Imus was actually calling the player prostitutes.

I can't believe she's suing. Shouldn't she also sue all the media outlets that paid an inordinate amount of attention to Imus' comments? That's the only reason her reputation has suffered.

I can't imagine it actually going to trial, simply because if he ends up with a jury full of black women, there's no way he wins. Much easier to take a chunk of his settlement and swing it her way.

It should be tossed as a matter of law before trial. Plus, what damages can she possibly have -- his apology campaign rec'd as much press coverage as the ho comment.

No damages, meritless case . . . should be abuse of process.

This is a remarkably stupid lawsuit, I hope she's not paying by the hour. Its not defamation per se -- a reasonable listener would not have understood the statement in its context to be an assertion of fact about her character.

Her lawyer said he filed suit to "restore" her good name and reputation. I thought the Rutgers players came out of that saga with a better reputation than Imus did. This lawsuit is going to have the opposite effect -- ask the "pants judge" how his reputation has gotten lately.
