Another Day, Another Taser Gun Story
It seems that the family of this woman may have a stronger cause of action than Andrew Meyer:
A Clay County woman's family said it's seeking justice after their loved one died shortly after being shocked 10 times with Taser guns during a confrontation with police. The family of 56-year-old Emily Delafield said it would take the Green Cove Springs Police Department to court, according to a WJXT-TV report....
Family attorney Rick Alexander said Delafield's death could have been prevented and that there are four things that jump out at him about the case.
"One, she's in a wheelchair. Two, she's schizophrenic. Three, they're using a Taser on a person that's in a wheelchair, and then four is that they tasered her 10 times for a period of like two minutes," Alexander said.
That may have been a bit much.

Her bad ticker was the cause of death- not the taser.

2:04, guess you haven't heard of proximate cause. Moron.

Thats the point douchebag- her bad ticker was the proximate cause- reald Palsgraf again douchebag- youre an embarassment

Her bad ticker gave way at the time of arrest and had nothing to due with the taser- I.E. she would have croaked anyway. You sir, are a douchebag.

Google "eggshell skull."

I am laboring under a driving compulison to beat the shit out of 2:10.

2:15
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Why? Isn't 2:10 right? She may have had a bad heart, but that doesn't mean the taserers aren't liable.
Posted by: ANonamiss | September 19, 2007 02:18 PM
I get the egg shell thing- I am saying it was purely coincidental she croaked at that time- she would have craopked even if standing in line at the Pathmark

GOD shut the eff up and pay attention to your contracts professor. Torts was over at 1:55.

2:20,
That might be a defense to liability, *if it were true.* Read the article:
"A medical examiner found Delafield died from hypertensive heart disease and cited the Taser gun shock as a contributing factor, the report said. On her death certificate, the medical examiner ruled Delafield's death a homicide."

At least we don't have video of this. Andrew Meyer's girlish screams continue to make me chuckle.

Based on what, 2:20? I mean yeah, we're all going to go sometime, but if we could use that as an excuse to help the Grim Reaper along think of all the torts profs and plaintiffs attys who would have to switch careers? The blogosphere would be overrun.

No video? Then I'm not interested. I liked the part in that other movie where the cops tasered that guy.

I'm sorry, aren't "one" and "three" really the same point?
"One in the same" if you will...
Let my objection be noted.

2:40,
I wouldn't say that 1) and 3) are coextensive, but 3) could be inferred from the combination of 1) and 4) and is therefore redundant.

Jesus.. I live in Jacksonville (right next to Clay County) and graduated from UF law.. two unnecessary tasering incidents in a row... I will be minding my manners if some po-po comes up to me.

Posted by: Bro | September 19, 2007 04:33 PM
Did you hear about the guy that got tasered and he was shaking so much it broke all of his ribs? Cops kept him at the station for an hour where he died of internal bleeding. Not sure when this happened.
