Biglaw Perk Watch: Flu Shots!
Our parents keep reminding us to get a flu shot (which we haven't gotten yet this year). If we worked for a law firm, maybe we wouldn't have to worry about this. From a tipster:
My firm provides flu shots for all of its employees every flu season. I was wondering if this was typical. The idealist in me wants to think that the firm actually cares about my health and well-being. On the other hand, the skeptic in me believes the firm doesn't want me to get sick so that I won't miss work.
They make you sign a consent form (of course).
Forget about the free iPhones and subsidized gym memberships. Flu shots are clearly what separate the men from the boys.
So... does YOUR firm furnish free flu shots? Please discuss, in the comments.

my firm gives those
Columbia University gives free flu shots to all students. All you have to do is pay $42,000 for tuition.
Federal Court law clerk: we get free flu shots
3:49 - Those aren't flu shots
Hee hee hee
My firm does, but the line was out the door.
this is the biggest 'who cares' post ever
Government lawyer, we get them for free in my building.
Is this how far the perk chats have degenerated? Does anyone really care? Is someone going to lateral because of this?
I think reception area couches should be the next topic.
My firm does free flu shots. One year they tried to make us pay half of the cost - something like $12, and the associates revolted. After the protests, the firm gave them for free.
What's with the line about consent forms?
S&C gives free flu shots.
tased bros to 190 kV!
You just have to bend over.
This is worse than the librarian perk watch bit we saw yesterday. What a waste.
We get a syringe full of Monkey Pox
My firm gives them, but I've never gotten one. Instead, as a first year, I broke open a thermometer, poured the mercury into a quart of orange juice, and drank it. I figure that would just be easier than waiting in line and getting jabbed in the arm every year with some bs vaccine that only 90 year old people should be getting.
Where's the perk watch on which firms have copy machines on every floor?
seriously, is that some dude's hairy @$$ in that picture?
The post topic is stupid, but I think it's intended as parody.
Also, the comments are turning out to be pretty entertaining.
oh my god. so many firms do these that i don't get why it's even worth mentioning. slow day, i suppose.
At my firm, only the librarian gets a flu shot, because she is hot. Is that a perk? Two perks?
K&E (chicago) charges.
Is my firm a market leader, or do other firms provide associates with air, too?
We should also have a thread on whether BigLaw firms offer direct deposit of paychecks. You know, to help law students make their decisions.
My firm gives them, and yes, part of it is for their own benefit. Not just so that *you* won't get sick and miss work, but also so that you won't contract it, spread it around to everybody in the firm and make *everybody* miss work! We also provide flu shots for spouses and I think also children over a certain age. No charge.
Greatest. Post. Ever.
You need to do a real perk post - who has microwaves on each floor? And are you allowed to make popcorn or does that violate a local "smell rule."
I'm hoping that's just a hairy ass. For a second there those almost looked like veins, which would be far, far nastier.
Poor judgment on the photo, Lat. And that's saying something--I didn't have any problems with the breastfeeding pic.
my firm provides free m&ms every friday. how about THAT for a recruiting tool?
"At my firm, only the librarian gets a flu shot, because she is hot. Is that a perk? Two perks?"
If by "flu shot" you mean another kind of shot and you get to do it, then, yes.
How about an FF&E/TI perk watch?
I'll start - my firm gives associates desks, chairs, and carpeting. We have to paint our own walls before we move in, though. Do any firms out there paint associates' office walls for them?
Lat, don't listen to the haters about the photo. I think it looks fairly prestigious.
My firm does, and my former firm did too. I'm interviewing at a couple firms that don't though. Hope that helps.
Lat, stop it with these bullshit perks no one cares about. We need to know - what firms have air-conditioned offices? What are standard temps in the office during mid-July? NY to 68F!
I forgot one thing--if she's white and you're asian, then it's two perks.
How about a WGWAG perk post?
looks like k&e is alone on not providing this benefit. what's the deal with that?
How about a thread addressing which firms pay for the HPV vaccine?
4:19, are you talking about a measles shot? Wow, that does sound like a perk if you get to give your firm librarian a measles shot.
I guess the next post is about free paperclips. I get as much as I want!
CC charges but no Monkey Pox
we get to wear jeans to work on 1 day in november if we donate to the united way. pretty sweet, eh?
CC charges but no Monkey Pox
Oooh, we used to get free ice cream cones on Fridays, but sadly, only on those Fridays when the summers were there....
My firm gives us free HGH. You know, to help us recover after multiple all-nighters. Or those nagging pituitary problems.
This is the worst thread ever made. Gosh!!!
No, not a measles shot. A Japanese Encephalitis shot, or something along those lines.
CC charges but no Monkey Pox
New York to 2 flu shots a year!
at my firm we get to work with UPenn law graduates. THEY'RE AWESOME!!!
I got a capsela set when I started but we had to pay for batteries.
4:11 greatest post award
$15 at McDermott NYC, but no waiting.
What about individual printers? Which firms give associates their own printers? Who gives a s**t about flu shots?
To Printers?:
It's going to suck when you have work with the flu. Believe me.
Flu to associates!
Oooh. I would love my own printer. I'd feign some kind of high risk pregnancy or sudden onset of temporary paralysis in one of my legs to get my own printer.
willkie gives free ones
willkie gives free flu shots
my firm offers free internet access. but what I really want is bagels. and maybe a toaster.

my firm does free ones, but you have to make an appointmen (so no long lines)
Weil gives them for free
sidley chicago free
4:50: I'll take you're word for it that it sucks to work with the flu. I never had the opportunity, though I have worked with some bad paralegals and a TTT first year. That was pretty bad.
Cahill gives free flu shots. Family members can receive a flu shot for a $20 charge.
WilmerHale puts botox in the syringes so you don't look like you haven't slept in days (even though you haven't).
My boss provides free paper shredding. Daily!
Free Xanex in candy-dishes in the break-room, anyone...?
My firm gives free ones, but I'm not talking about flu shots.
HH&R - free flu shots.
Which firms give daily jello shots?
i don't think flu shots are a particularly "biglaw" perk - i work in a small market (although a large firm for the region) and we always get flu shots...
Oh, yeah, we get the flu shots! And to satisfy the curiosity of the mob, we have several copiers on each floor, so you're never too far from one. Also microwave ovens and a fridge on every floor. You never have to leave.
My firm doesn't charge me for air conditioning or drinking water. I really should be paying to work there!
My firm gives free Kamikaze shots. Then, when things slow down after several consecutive 250+ hour months, they push us out the windows like real Kamikazes.
DPW offers them for free
King & Spalding Atlanta gives free flu shots...also free doughnuts and bagels in the cafeteria on Fridays and free Coca-Cola fountains on each floor
BB gave flu shots today and gives M&Ms tomorrow (and every Friday). Tipster's probably one of the BB first-years who were crying in the elevator bank today on their way to the torture session.
Okay, seriously, that picture has got to go!
my firm has free bagels, oatmeal, toast, cereal, 4 kinds of juices, 10+ types of sodas, bottled water, fresh fruit, and coffee, espresso and cappucino. and flu shots.
even the federal courts give free flu shots
$20 at greenberg traurig, plus $20 more for a pneumonia shot.
CWT gives out free calamine lotion to the victims of the bed bugs...
my firm brings in the flu shots and lines us up.
Stroock gives free flu shots
those are no flu shots, my biglaw compadres. it's really a secret sterilization campaign by the firm. childless associates are higher-billing associates!
Lat, you are a genius. You put up this crappy post knowing that the comments would be comic gold (which they have been).
sidley ny gives them free
fried frank provides free flu shots for all employees
I'm in a BigLaw firm in the Midwest (is that an oxymoron?). We have multiple copiers on every floor and free lunches catered on Fridays for all lawyers, and we bring in the Visitng Nurse deal du jour to give the flu shots in one of our conference rooms, but we make everybody that wants one pay the 22 bucks!! I thought that we were progressive; well up goes the 2008 perk budget I guess.
