The Eyes of the Law: An Aaron Charney Sighting

Aaron Charney solo firm headshot Aaron B Charney Aaron Brett Charney Above the Law ATL.JPGSo just how large was the settlement in Charney v. Sullivan & Cromwell? Professor Scott Moss argued it was probably modest, while Professor Art Leonard believed it to be more substantial.

Here's some evidence in favor of a larger settlement:

On Saturday at around 5 p.m., I spotted Aaron Charney in a cafe, in the bucolic town of Cold Spring, New York. I would have gone up and talked to him, but I realized who he was too late.

He was dressed in preppy fall wear, very J. Crew, with a wool hat. He was with two friends, and he was joking with them. He looked happy.

Well, how happy? Was it a $500,000 kind of happy, or a $2 million kind of happy?

I think Latty Boy has a thing for Aaron, which would explain the numerous (pointless) posts about him...

Great detective work, 10:38. Lat has openly lusted after ABC in ATL, calling him a "hottie," etc.

"very J. Crew" = his family's clothing store?

How is that story give an indication of anything?

I was smiling this weekend in Manhattan wearing a sweater, and it wasn't because I won the lottery or got it on with 2 chicks at the same time. Rather, it was because I saw some idiot stuck in a revolving door.

I always thought the storied love birds sat IN a tree, not ON a tree. Anyone else?

can't we just leave the poor guy alone, let him be happy, and move on to something more interesting? Crazy court filings, firm gossip, bonus news - the things that make this site relatively entertaining?

Do more people say "sittin' IN a tree" or "sittin' ON a tree"?

avatar
Posted by guest | Permalink Monday, November 12, 2007 11:48 AM

Sitting IN a tree is correect, not ON a tree. Just like "waiting IN line" or "next IN line," and not "... ON line." People who use the phrase "ON line" are just showing their lack of education.

Slooooooooow news day for Lat. Wonder if there's really nothing going on or if he has a case of the Mondays.

We always said "sitting IN a tree." I don't think "waiting ON line" is ignorance, it's regional. That's how it's said in the UK.

11:48,
Seriously? I'm pretty sure there is no "correct" in children's rhymes. It seems that there are two customs; 11:35 and 11:44 were merely trying to determine which is more common. In fact, google says "sitting IN a tree" wins, with 338,000 results, while "sitting ON a tree" loses with only 69,500 results found.

Do you say, "Sit ON it, Potsie!" or "Sit IN it, Potsie!"?

I say, "SIT on it, Potsie!"

I hope I'm not wroooggghhh...

wrauhhhgggnnn...

wraaawwwwggggg...

I can't say it. I did in that one episode, but not now, not here.

Yesterday, I hung my wet shirt ON a tree to dry. Sadly, I first tried to hang that shirt ON the line of people standing next to the tree, but first they shrugged off my clean, wet shirt and it fell to the ground. When I persisted, they became irate and threatened me with unspeakable horrors. So I settled with hanging my shirt ON the tree. Then, I climbed the tree to avoid the mob--ready to lynch me in that tree by this point--and sat ON the tree's top branch.
