I completely agree. I've worked with several Wayne Law grads, and have always been impressed. I don't know where the morons written about on this website came from, but they're certainly not representative of the student body as a whole.

I moved to Detroit from California, and I must say it's not as bad as everyone thinks. However, Kwame is a clown and everyone knows it. Detroit has enough problems without this douche at the helm.

I wonder if the dean at Wayne State's law school would suspend Beatty pending the outcome of the investigation, or would the dean allow her to continue to attend school throughout the investigation. It's a public school, so I guess they don't have the same latitude that a private school might...

Lat, the mayor is named Kilpatrick. The Chief of Staff is Beatty, and the article says Beatty's phone had 14,000 text messages.

I should add that the article gives no reason to think that ALL 14,000 messages on Beatty's phone were from Kilpatrick. As the chief of staff, my guess is she had plenty of people calling & texting her phone for all kinds of reasons. The paper examined the total number and, yes, found a large number to/from Kilpatrick.

1) Beatty is a 1L this year - so she did not attend Wayne at the time these text messages were sent. Believe me, her peers are not happy about this mess. As for what the school will do - who knows? She should grow a pair and drop out, since she won't pass C&F now.

2) Wayne State has a good reputation in Michigan. As our esteemed exiting Dean loves to say, "Wayne graduates dominate the bench and the bar" in Michigan. Many students who can't get into UM Law or elsewhere go to Wayne State their first year and transfer, if they get the grades. Some of us went to Wayne and ended up staying. There's really no need for you all to make fun of us, but I am happy enough with my degree and my job that I can take it. :)

I hate to say this because I am from Detroit, but it's a total SHITHOLE. I moved to NYC 3 years ago because things were just to bad there. There are no real businesses there and the legal community is pathetic. The quality of work/cases is a total joke. One interesting thing though, is that I have a lot of friends who made partner in 6 years at two top flight Michigan firms. Butzel Long and Miller Canfield. The bottom line is that the city has been in trouble for years and a GHETTO ass Mayor is not helping the cause. The fact that he was re-elected is astounding. He did used to wear this princess cut diamond earring in his left ear for a long time. It was so ghetto and he was proud of it. He used to say that he was hip and the "peoples" Mayor. Oh thanks much dumb ass...so you are saying that your people are ghetto then? I mean he his wife nearly beat a stripper to death. Both of those girls by the way went missing and one was found dead a few weeks later. Too bad they could not testify against that scum bag. Detroit no longer has an industry. The Big 3 are imploding and you can't get jobs in that shithole town. I think their unemployment rate is 8%. That's pretty pathetic when the national average is something like 3%. But the main issues involve the party at the Manoogian Mansion (which allegedly never happened according to AG Mike "cock" Cox), 2 dead strippers who were rumored to have arrived at the party only wearing mink coats and who allegedly were performing head on KK when his wife allegedly busted in on the action and beat 1 stripper to death with a bat (after the party, one stripper was "found" dead in Detroit and the other was found dead in Atlanta...their deaths are a mystery today), the 2 cops who were at the party who were fired after they went public about it, their whistleblower suit, KK and CB's apparently false testimony on the stand not only about them screwing, but also about their decision to fire the 2 cops (the records were published by one of the local papers recently), and the 9MM verdict that resulted from the trial which is now owed by the city's citizens (the city didn't appeal).
I also heard that KK contacted the County prosecutor right before the paper exposed the blackberry records and told her that he would "remain neutral" in the upcoming election.
The city had been trying to block the blackberry records from being disclosed.

Wayne State Law School at its best is below average. I finished Harvard and I am from Southeastern Michigan. I would never come back to Michigan to live or work at one of the law firms.
