Down goes Clinton, down goes Clinton, down goes Clinton!!!
If Obama keeps kicking Clinton's tail like this, he's going to be arrested for assault and battery and sued for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Whether or not you dislike Obama . . . That WP column is awful.
10:19 - too much studying for the bar.
10:20 is right. Samuelson is a douche.
Nice link to the Post editorial, with all of its legal relevance to this website.
10:20: agreed. it's as if it was ghostwritten by his 8th-grade son.
lat is getting desperate. The lengths that Hillary supporters will go to are almost disturbing at this point. To Hell with journalistic integrity.
Samuelson is representative of what is now a chronic condition, which we might call "Clintonitis." It began afflicting staunch liberals in the 90's, who for some reason regard the Clinton administration as a noble exemplar of progressive leadership.
The aflicted are untroubled by "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the Welfare Reform Act, the federal DOMA, the loss of federal student loan eligibility for the slightest pot-related offense, and the brutal UN sanctions against the Iraqi people (which still accounted for more deaths than the current war) - all of which stand as the Clinton legacy (not to mention his well documented history as a sexual predator and disbarred attorney, which helped spur the Gingrich Revolution and the rise of conservative media, e.g. talk radio and Fox News).
Today, Clintonitis has some very intelligent and highly educated people buying Hillary's claim of "experience" hook, line and sinker. The afflicted are untroubled by her mendacity, from minor fabrications (e.g., telling Sir Edmund Hillary she was named after him, when he didn't climb Everest and become world famous until she was a little girl) to major distortions (e.g., it was Obama who "played the race card," or "we won't campaign in, or seek the inclusion of delagates from, Florida or Michigan").
Though Iraq is by far what has enraged them most about Bush, the afflicted care little about Hillary's early and enthusiastic support for the invasion (their defenses of which now range from the sexist "she had to support it" to the intellectually insulting "she did so based on the information she had"). The aflicted don't even mind that Hillary proposed legislation a few years ago criminalizing the burning of the U.S. Flag.
Former heroes of American liberalism such as JFK are now casually dismissed as overhyped failures (which may be the case - but was not claimed by the afflicted mere months ago). And I've witnessed the aflicted offer oh so subtle claims that it's only stupid college kids and minorities who are caught up in the Obama hype...despite the fact that most white, male democrats and independents making $150k+ support him, including a majority of general counsel.
Samuelson's main gripe is that Obama hasn't tailored his positions to appeal to economics PhDs...something that will definitely cost him the election.
what a terrible op-ed. the guy totally misses what attracts people to obama: he isn't the bitter, petty, and vindictive politician we've all become too used to. his policies might not be terribly different, but his ability to consolidate power sufficient to move the country forward is.
SCOTUS should just admit they scrapped the Fourth Amendment and be done with it.
