ATL Caption Contest: The South Florida Blackout (Final Round)

Some of you may be tired of our little Miami blackout caption contest. But we agree with the commenters who suggested that a contest with 20 entries was unwieldy. We'd like to get it right this time.
Here's what we've done. We've taken the top five vote getters -- there was a clear drop-off after #5, with all other choices polling under 10 percent -- and pitted them against each other in a final round.
If you feel like it, you can review the contenders, and vote for your favorite, after the jump.
To refresh your recollection, here is the original caption that ran with the photo in the Miami Herald:
Lawyers, from the left, Alan Lash, Justin Fienberg, and Alex Mendez, not lawyer, working on a project at Greenberg Traurig, on 27th floor of 1221 Brickell, went to lunch and found the building out of power.
Here are your nominees for the final round:
A: Lazy and tired, GT lawyers forget that the door behind the label "stairs" leads them back to their office where "paper" and "pencils" along with "books" could permit them to continue working.
B: "Honey, I think I may make it to dinner tonight!"
Accord (variation on theme): "Torn from their drudgery, lawyers are forced to call their family and friends."
C: Florida attorneys, having found out their building lost power while they were at lunch, phoned their firm's car service to have their drivers manually carry them up six flights of stairs. "It's billed to the client," explained Justin Feinberg.
D: Justin: "Ah, Steve, you won't believe it! You know how it was white shirt, blue tie day at the office? Well I wore a blue tie AND a blue shirt...I mean we laughed for like, hours. Seriously Steve, hours."
Alex: "F**k off, my name's Alex."
E: Justin Fienberg, center, unloads on an FPL employee on the phone: "I don't give a fuck if you have to put some Cubans in a fucking hamster wheel, just get the goddamn power back on." He was in the middle of entering his time and is afraid his bonus will be reduced for violating the firm's time entry policy.
Accord: Lawyer Justin Fienberg manages to continue billing hours during a blackout while fellow lawyer, Alan Lash, curses under his breath having left his blackberry at his desk. Confused non-lawyer, Alex Mendez just lifts phone to ear.
Update: The polls are closed; thanks to everyone who voted. Find out the winner by clicking here.

Pablo says people in South Florida love my product. Do drugs. Don't work

Does this really have to be the final round? Who not vote off one of them today, and tomorrow do the same? When it's down to just two, you should run another poll as to the 15 excluded from this list and match that winner against the surving two from this one. I see solid gold entertainment until at least October.

Wait, you're still on this? One post was enough; 2 was annoying; 3 is just sad.
How about a recap of layoffs? Or a piece on why I can't get no Tang 'round here? Or why I, as a lawyer in New York County, had to do jury duty alongside commoners?

lawyers are so funny

How about "Can you hear me now."

12:18 - It's a caption contest, not American Idol.
12:19 - Don't like it, don't read it. It doesn't even take up much space on the front page, since most of it was "after the jump."

None of these are even kinda sorta funny. Reason: the photo isn't funny.

none of these are funny. ATL has sucked so far in 2008. how about some real stories, not some lame contest or the constant surveys and lat link ads.

The presumptive winner, "D," is just a cut-rate rip-off of something from American Psycho.

12:24 -- you are so perfect for the profession.

if you're going to keep having caption contests, can't you at least use an interesting pic?

Can't you guys just leave us alone already? I mean, I've already had to invest in a new wardrobe, a haircut and weight watchers just to slow the tide of comments. Let it be man.

What kind of car is that in the background?
Posted by: Anonymous | March 5, 2008 04:14 PM
The car in the background is some sort of Nissan. Maybe a Pathfinder or Xterra.

Justin Fienberg: Alex, what did the lawyer say to the non-lawyer?
Alex Mendez: What?
Justin: That'll be $300!

The captions are WAY too long ... and really not funny.
Here's one:
"Law firm opens new office on city sidewalk."

The accord for letter E is much funnier than the one you chose for the number 1 quote. Totally riding on Accord's coattails. "Confused non-lawyer, Alex Mendez just lifts phone to ear." = HILARIOUS.
