This girl will be drinking where other CFA test takers are not.

Do you honestly want to spend your night hearing people discuss when you use the Dicky-Fuller test, IRP, or when to consolidate VIEs? Negative.

I am not planning to discuss the test at all.

But where they congregate, the exam comes up. Last year, post-exam, someone told me he was looking for some M&A action and wanted to vertically integrate - that is what I would like to avoid at all costs.

@ Anal_yst: There will be no alpha production Saturday night. Only beta...leveraged through the use of excessive amounts of alcohol.

Skimming this list was my comedic relief for the day. Seriously? Do these people have any self-respect?

On the other hand, it would be so much fun to go. It could fill my comedic relief quota for the month.

Why isn't Zack's collar popped? He is the man and everyone should know it.

I do not know what you are trying to accomplish with this post but it is completely obnoxious.

Maybe you are right that the real beneficiaries of service are "the do-gooders" because I always walk away from service with a little more perspective and thankfulness for the opportunities I was given and gifts that I received. But to say that people just do it to advance their career or enter new social circles is completely jaded.

There is a soup kitchen downtown where I have met quite a few people that work in various facets of the finance sector. Some are banking analysts, MDs, or work in a backoffice capacity. No one has ever advertised what they do, who they work for, or what their title is (I probe for details). To say they are there at 7:30 on a Saturday morning to get into a social cirle seems a bit contradictory.

Yuck. As a lady, I hate those styles. If you have great legs, show them off...no matter what economic indicators may tell you.

@Anal: Too many obvious openings? I think you can quantify the number of openings available to insert a witty remark if my memory serves me correctly.

Bubble in the winter? I used to live over there and hear you on the Bridgemarket (only clean market over there) but not quite sure what the bubble is....

@MGR: Thanks! Definitely time for me to switch sports. Playing in a bubble sounds like so much more fun.

@ #5. The polka dot/camo combo is fabulous. Where could I obtain one as soon as humanly possible?

Re: Sprint vs. Distance Records

Without any scientific evidence to support, I think that the same trend can be seen in the sport of swimming. The records in shorter distances are broken more frequently and at a rate that exceeds that of the longer distances.

My theory: the shorter distances benefit from technology and advances in the sport that do not have such a great impact on the longer distance. New shoes or a sleek suit impact a short race; however, in races like the marathon or 1,650 in swimming, technology is only going to get you so far. You can give someone light weight shoes but they still have to have to ability to run 26.2 miles...

Chainsaws are nothing compared to this:
http://www.projo.com/news/content/KENT_LAWSUIT03_05-03-08_40A0DBF_v95.3658b3c.html

Nine years ago, Michael Kent rocked the upscale Plum Beach area of Saunderstown, chopping down all the trees on his land next to busy Boston Neck Road and painting the stumps in garish, fluorescent colors.

First, he cut down all the trees on the two lots in question, painting the stumps in fluorescent colors. Not even the rocks were spared.

Neighbors sued.

“It’s a joke,” Kent said defending his landscaping as art in Superior Court. “But I’m thrilled and I’m more than happy to rise to the occasion.”

Metal palm trees came later, courtesy of his former nightclub Bootleggers.

Two years later, after the town turned down his building proposal again, Kent resorted to uncomposted chicken manure, saying he wanted to start a garden to grow vegetables for the poor.
